Your Studio Books – Invoicing & Bookkeeping app for Designers

Your Studio Books – Invoicing & Bookkeeping app for Designers

N$1,199.00
Description

If your invoices live in Word, your bank statements live in a folder you avoid, and VAT time arrives like a surprise every two months — this is for you.

Your Studio Books is bookkeeping built by a designer, for designers and creatives. A quote becomes an invoice with one tap. You import your bank statement, say what each line was, and your invoices mark themselves paid. VAT and income tax are worked out as you go, so nothing ambushes you at the end of the month — or the end of the year.

And the part I wish I’d had years ago: one button that tells you what’s really yours to spend once VAT, tax and your savings are taken care of. No accountant language, no monthly fee, and your numbers stay on your device.

What's inside
  • The Flow — your home page: what’s owed, what’s late, what to do next
  • Quotes that turn into invoices in one tap, linked for good
  • Invoices, credit notes and client statements as PDFs, with your logo, VAT and banking details
  • Bank import from PDF or CSV — every account and credit card, with duplicates caught
  • One-tap sorting into business, personal and not profit categories
  • VAT worked out on invoice date or payment date
  • Income tax set-aside, on your own tax year
  • Reports: What’s really mine?, profit & loss, who owes you, cash by month, expenses, VAT, trial balance and general ledger — all exportable
  • What to charge and Price a project — your rate from your real costs
  • Clients saved once, filled in everywhere
  • Automatic backups to a folder of your choice
  • A 22-page welcome guide that sets up every page with you, step by step

Do I need to know bookkeeping?

Not at all. It’s written in plain language, and the welcome guide walks you through every page. If you can send an invoice and read a bank statement, you can use it.

Will my accountant be able to use it?

Yes. Profit & loss, the VAT report, trial balance and general ledger all export as CSV — clean, organised and ready for year-end.

Can I import my bank statements?

Yes. Most banks’ PDF statements work as they are — including Afrikaans statements marked Kt and Dt — and CSV works too. Several accounts and credit cards are fine.

Is my information private?

Your books live only on your device — no account, no cloud, nobody else can see them. That’s also why it backs up to a folder you choose, so a lost laptop never means lost books.

Does it do payroll, stock or several users?

No. It’s made for a studio owner running their own books — quotes, invoices, bank, VAT and tax — and it does that beautifully.

Will it file my tax or VAT return?

No — it works out your numbers and gives you clean reports. Rules differ by country, so your accountant confirms the final figures before you file.

Is it part of The Studio Desk?

Yes — it’s the Desk’s Finances room. If you get the whole Desk later, import your

Frequently asked questions about:

What is Kunshuis?

Kunshuis makes practical business tools, studio systems and planners for graphic designers, freelancers and service-based creatives. It was founded by graphic designer Nelett Loubser in Windhoek, Namibia, and everything is built from more than 22 years in design. That includes five years at Ogilvy Namibia and running my own studio since 2010.

Where can I buy Kunshuis products?

Everything Kunshuis sells is available here on kunshuis.shop: the studio apps, Living Tools, planners, stationery, bundles and gift cards. The Creatives' Planner is also stocked at Exclusive Books,Gifts & Goodies and Magnifique Gifts in Windhoek. kunshuis.com is home to the articles, the Beyond Design podcast and free resources.

I'm not a designer. Can I still use your products?

Yes. They're made with designers in mind, but they work for anyone who runs client work or a small creative business. That includes photographers, illustrators, marketers, interior designers and makers. Most of my community isn't "designer" by title.

WHICH PRODUCT DO I NEED?

What's the difference between your products?

They do different jobs:

  • The Studio Desk runs the business side of your studio: clients, quotes, invoices, briefs, planning and finances, with every Living Tool built in.
  • Your Studio Books is the money side on its own: quotes, invoices, bank import, VAT and tax set-aside.
  • The Living Tools are small web apps that each solve one problem, such as pricing, a difficult client email or scope creep.
  • The Creatives' Planner is a printed, undated A5 planner for pen-and-paper thinking.
  • The Creatives' Digital Planner 2027 is a dated, hyperlinked PDF you write in on a tablet.

I'm not sure where to start. Can you help?

Yes. The tool finder at tools.kunshuis.com asks what feels hardest right now and points you to the right product. You can also email me, and I'll tell you honestly what I'd start with.

Should I buy the Studio Desk or the separate tools?

If you'd buy more than two or three Living Tools, the Studio Desk is the better buy. It includes every Living Tool, Your Studio Books and all the rooms, working together in one place. If you only need help with one thing, a single tool is a good start.

Is The Creatives' Planner the same as the Graphic Designers' Playbook?

Yes. The Creatives' Planner is the new name for the Graphic Designers' Playbook: the same printed, undated A5 business planner for designers and creatives.

Is the Digital Planner the same as the printed Creatives' Planner?

No. The printed planner is undated and you write in it by hand. The Digital Planner is a dated 2027 PDF for your tablet, with hyperlinks and Add to Calendar. Buying one doesn't include the other.

ALL ABOUT THE STUDIO DESK, STUDIO BOOKS AND LIVING TOOLS

What is The Studio Desk?

The Studio Desk is a business app for freelance designers and small creative studios. It keeps clients, quotes, invoices, briefs, project notes, planning and bookkeeping in one place, with the Living Tools built in. You can try the demo at desk.kunshuis.com.

Is it a subscription?

No. The Studio Desk, Your Studio Books and the Living Tools are all once-off purchases. There are no monthly fees, and future updates to the Desk are included.

Do I need Notion, an account or another app?

No. The apps open in your browser, and you can save them to your home screen like any app. There's no account, no login and nothing to install.

Where is my information stored?

On your own device. Nobody else can see it, me included. The Studio Desk backs up automatically to a folder you choose, so a lost laptop never means a lost studio.

What is a Living Tool?

A Living Tool is a small web app that answers your actual situation instead of handing you a template. You paste in the client's email, brief or request, and you get a clear read of what's going on and words you can use.

Do the Living Tools use AI?

Yes. Each tool is built on my own studio processes and uses AI to draft the words. You read it, change what isn't you, and decide. The AI is included in the price, so you don't need ChatGPT or any other paid account. The tools need an internet connection; everything else in the Desk works from your device.

Can my clients use the Studio Desk?

Yes. Each client can get their own Client Studio Desk link with their brief, invoices, your terms and their files. They don't need a login.

Can it look like my brand?

Yes. Add your logo and your own brand colours, or choose one of the Light, Evening or Midnight themes.

Will it do my tax for me?

No, but it does most of the work. It calculates your VAT and tax set-aside and gives you clean reports. Tax rules differ by country, so your accountant confirms the final figures.

I already have Your Studio Books. Can I move to the Studio Desk?

Yes. Download a backup from the Books and import it into the Desk's Finances, and everything comes with you.

Can my team share one Studio Desk?

No. Each Desk is made for one studio owner on their own device. That's what keeps it private.

I'm not techy. Will I cope?

Yes. The Studio Desk comes with an 18-page welcome guide that walks you through every room. If you get stuck, I'm one email away.

ALL ABOUT THE PLANNERS

Is the Digital Planner dated?

Yes. It runs from January to December 2027, with dated daily pages and an hourly schedule from 06:00 to 21:00.

Do I need Goodnotes?

No. It's a hyperlinked PDF, so it works in Goodnotes, Noteshelf, Xodo, Acrobat or any PDF app that supports links and handwriting. A tablet and stylus give you the most paper-like experience. Apps and devices aren't included.

How does Add to Calendar work?

Tap Add to Calendar on any daily page and the Kunshuis Calendar Companion opens with that date already selected. Type the title, time and notes, then send it to Google, Apple or Outlook. Apple Reminders works through the free Kunshuis Shortcut. There's no background sync, and I never see your event details.

Are the digital stickers included?

Yes. The Kunshuis Digital Sticker Pack comes as transparent PNG files in a ZIP folder, which you can reuse as often as you like.

Can I print the Digital Planner or share it?

You may print pages for your own use, but the links and Add to Calendar only work digitally. The files are licensed to one person, so please don't share or resell them. A gift card is the easy way to get one to a friend.

ORDERING, PAYMENT AND SHIPPING

Where is Kunshuis based?

Windhoek, Namibia. Digital products are delivered by email anywhere in the world, and physical products can be shipped internationally.

Is it safe to order from Namibia?

Yes. Payments are processed securely through trusted payment systems like Paygate. I run Kunshuis myself, so if anything ever feels off, you're emailing me, not a call centre.

What currency are prices in?

Prices are in Namibian Dollars (NAD). Your bank converts the amount automatically when you pay, and international buyers often find the rate works in their favour.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Physical products can be shipped internationally, but shipping is not calculated automatically at checkout.

Because courier, tariff and destination costs vary, shipping is arranged separately after purchase. Please contact me once you've placed your order so we can look at the best option for your location.

You're also welcome to arrange your own courier collection from Windhoek, Namibia. Shipping, courier, customs and import costs are for the buyer's account.

How long will my order take?

Digital products arrive by email as soon as your payment is confirmed. Once we've agreed on shipping, physical orders are usually sent within 3–4 business days. During launches, Black Friday and the festive season, this can stretch to about a week. After that, delivery time depends on the courier.

What if my address is wrong?

Please double-check it before you pay. If a parcel comes back because of an incorrect address, the cost of sending it again is for the buyer's account.

My order arrived damaged. What now?

Email hello@kunshuis.com as soon as you can, with a photo of the parcel and the item. Once a parcel leaves the studio it's in the courier's hands, but I'll help you sort it out.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. They're digital and arrive by email with simple instructions, and they can be spent on anything on kunshuis.shop. You can print one if you'd like to hand it over in person.

DOWNLOADS, REFUNDS AND SUPPORT

How do I receive my digital products?

By email, straight after payment, and on your order-confirmation page.

  • The Studio Desk, Your Studio Books and the Living Tools arrive as a link you open in your browser.
  • The planners and sticker packs arrive as download links.

Download links work a limited number of times, so save a backup copy somewhere safe. If nothing arrives within a few minutes, check your Promotions or Junk folder.

My link expired or stopped working. What do I do?

Email hello@kunshuis.com and I'll sort it out. You won't lose access to something you've paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Digital products can't be refunded, because they're delivered the moment you pay. Physical products can't be returned either, unless I sent you the wrong item. In that case, email me within seven days of receiving it and I'll put it right. Please contact me before sending anything back, because unsolicited returns aren't eligible for refunds or credit. If you bought through another store, please contact them directly.

Is there support if I get stuck?

Always. Email hello@kunshuis.com about an order, a tool, the Desk or the planners. It's me on the other end.
